1cupcrushed peppermint candies (reserve a few for topping)
1cuppretzel sticks, crushed into small bits
0.5cupalmonds, finely chopped (optional for added texture)
0.5teaspoonpure vanilla extract
Instructions
Melt the Dark Chocolate: Using a double boiler, gently heat the dark chocolate over simmering water. Stir occasionally until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth. Alternatively, you can microwave the chocolate in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until fully melted to avoid overheating.
Spread the Dark Chocolate: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking. Once melted, pour the dark chocolate onto the sheet and use a spatula to spread it into an even layer, approximately ½ inch thick. Transfer the baking sheet to the refrigerator and chill for about 15 minutes, or until the chocolate is firm to the touch.
Melt the White Chocolate: In the same manner as before, melt the white chocolate until it is smooth and creamy, taking care not to overheat it. Once melted, stir in the vanilla extract for an aromatic touch.
Add Peppermint Candies and Pretzels: Carefully remove the refrigerated baking sheet with the dark chocolate layer from the fridge. While it’s still firm, pour the melted white chocolate over the dark chocolate and spread it evenly across the surface using a spatula.
Sprinkle Toppings: Immediately sprinkle the crushed peppermint candies, crushed pretzel pieces, and chopped almonds (if using) on top of the white chocolate layer. Press them down gently with your fingertips to ensure they adhere to the melted chocolate.
Chill Again: Return the baking sheet to the refrigerator for about 30 minutes, or until the entire bark is thoroughly set and firm.
Break into Pieces: Once the bark is fully hardened, lift it from the parchment paper and break it into irregularly shaped pieces for a rustic look.
Serve and Enjoy: Arrange your delightful peppermint bark crunch pieces artfully on a festive platter. For an extra cheerful presentation, sprinkle a few additional crushed peppermint candies on top before serving to add a pop of color and flavor.
