1tablespoonsweetener (honey, maple syrup, or coconut sugar)
0.5teaspoonground cinnamon
0.25teaspoonground ginger
0.25teaspoonground cardamom
0.25teaspoonground cloves
0.25teaspoonvanilla extract
a pinchfreshly ground black pepper
Optional: whipped coconut cream for topping
Instructions
In a medium saucepan, combine the coconut milk and water. Place over medium heat and gently warm the mixture until it’s steaming, ensuring it does not reach a boil to maintain the flavors of the coconut milk.
Once the mixture is steaming, add the chai tea bags. Allow the tea to steep for 5 to 7 minutes, adjusting the time based on your preferred strength of flavor—longer steeping intensifies the chai flavor.
Carefully remove the tea bags from the saucepan. Stir in your chosen sweetener, ground cinnamon, ground ginger, ground cardamom, ground cloves, a pinch of black pepper, and vanilla extract. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated.
For a delightful frothed texture, use an immersion blender to blend the chai coconut mixture until it becomes frothy. If you don’t have an immersion blender, you can whisk it vigorously to achieve a similar frothy effect.
Pour the spiced chai coconut milk into your favorite mugs. If you'd like to indulge, add a generous dollop of whipped coconut cream on top.
For an extra flourish, sprinkle a dash of cinnamon over the whipped coconut cream as garnish before serving. Enjoy your deliciously spiced latte hot!
Notes
For a richer flavor, adjust the steeping time of the tea bags.
